VP goes on hunting expedition, wounds but doesn't kill

There's a lovely two-page story in the Washington Post today about Cheney shooting some old man. They were hunting quail on a south Texas ranch. The real highlights are the quotes from one of the owners of the ranch, Katharine Armstrong, who's a 'dear friend' of Cheney and a 'Pioneer' fundraiser for Bush.

She said such hunting accidents happen "occasionally down here." Both her daughter and her ranch foreman have shotgun pellets embedded from such accidents, she said.

She's also on the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission, appointed there by Bush (as governor).

I guess it's worth noting that these Armstrong people and the man who got shot, Harry Whittington (who's recovering nicely), are big pigs in the shit of the Texas Republican party. Clearly dangers to themselves and others.

UPDATE: Don't give up hope yet! It's the headline that's best: Cheney Victim Suffers Heart Attack. The VP can still be a killer, if he just makes the effort.

UPDATE II: I don't know why I wrote anything about this, clearly I'm an idiot. Oh well. The newish news is that Cheney didn't have a hunting license, failed his hunter's safety course, and the victim has now appologized to his attacker and the attacker's family. It's not even that funny, I feel really sorry for the guy.
